the Techpod ,carbon fiber and wing flex

So , more than a few people have expressed concern over the amount of wing flex exhibited by the techpod . To exhibit just some of the strenght of the 9 mm OD 7 mm ID tubes I use I put together this quick clip .

that is 2 x 42 inch long 9mm tubes connected by a 6 inch x 7 mm inner connector rod , lifting a 5 gallon jug of water @ 42lbs suspended in the middle .good for a 8.4 g loading with a 5 lbs techpod and not all the lift comes from the tips unlike this demo . the spar could have taken much more. You may notice the two small nylon pieces in the middle . these keep the whole thing from exploding .

Good demo Wayne if I did that with my Radian pro it would bust in half here is the flex i got from just the weight of the plane sitting on the brick and tire the wings have gone to mush after 70 flights

I have completed the maiden flight test on the techpod. And found few design flaws. My experience , I have been flying RC for close to ten years. Also built and flown few turbines jets.

1. No proper assembly manual. Lots of trial fit.

2. Certain parts not fit well, need some filling and cutting etc.

3. Certain parts missing, not included in the kit.

4. The clamping action of the carbon spar to maintain the wings inposition on the fuselage is not ideal or safe. I have to make my own mod.

5. The wings too flexible. During a dive, when the wings flex upwards too much, the aileron authority become much less. This plane is not meant to sustained high G.

6/ Lost of parts not serviceable, for example, if u wanna change the wing servo for some reason, u need to cut open the wing.

7. The space inside the techpod not impressive. Rather too small.

8. No mentioned the position of the CG. Being experience in RC, I can make a good guess. LOL.

9. The nose plastic and fuselage bottom cover, optically poor. I have replace it with actual CCTV dome cover.

10. The motor is not removable after installation, unless u cut some of the fuselage away. I have to devise my own motor mount over the existing one to make the motor removable.

Kelvin,
Thank you for your honest assessment. I strive to make the techpod the best it can be some things have to be modified due to limitations of the molding prosses. I have several minor changes in mind for the next batch and will keep you suggestions in mind.
