I am trying to create a 2.4ghz relay for a drone. The objective is to create a remote relay that can bounce (receive and retransmit) signals from a controller to a drone that's above the tops of trees. Anyone have a suggestion for the equipment, or a place to start? I couldn't find anything helpful with my research, so any help is appreciated! (I dont live in the US, please no FAA talk)

Long range terrestrial radio is not going to support the data rates we need to Command and Control these vehicles either. There is a new 920 Mhz radio technology call Lora that has nice range up to 13 km, but the data rates are rather low.
C2 over cellular allows a lot of flexibility, high data rates, and connectivity to low altitude airspace monitoring systems, since below 250 feet altitude, air traffic radar aren't going to see these micro UAVs we are flying. (conventional transponder technology etc)
Perhaps you could be more descriptive of what this relay would be doing....are you controlling the drone out of range of your primary controller?
