I'm building a 3-axis camera gimbal for a DSLR-sized (Cannon Rebel T3i or similar) video payload, for use on an actual manned aircraft (replacement for the radar pod on Cessna 210; replacement for the aerobatic winglet on a DG-1000).
The gimbal is structurally designed to withstand the airloads imposed upon it in these flight regimes, and therefore much heavier than RC applications.
Need advice with regard to size and torque of the servos (metal gear or pulley), as well as the systems recommended for OSD, TX/RX and gyro stabilization.
Currently looking at the iPhly for iPad, FatShark, ArduIMU, Skyline RSGS, amongst others. Have access to CAD/CNC shop, so structures are not the issue, but the systems are.
Recommendations, suggestions and advice is very welcome.
Best,
Bill
