3dr air not working

full story: I bought Hexacopter from udrones complete ready to fly. Flys good.Down loaded MP onto my PC,and update was available so I went ahead and updated. Tried to get 3dr to connect to MP. Connection would timeout with message "32 heartbeat packets received no param packets received".

I thought maybe I had to update firmware on 3dr so I did that. No luck so I bought ftdi cable to update air radio. Tried this as many different ways as I can think of.

-- if I push firmware button ......"can't identify radio"

--if I push load settings....."failed to enter command mode"

..tried to short cts and ground on power up, get solid red,but still "failed to enter command mode."

I have tried all different baud rates.

I am not sure if I'm following correct procedure as I can not find a step by step on doing this. What does the (local) on" upload firmware" button mean. Confusing to me because local on settings is ground radio right? and remote is air radio? Also confused as to what needs to be done to upload firmware on air radio.

BTW upload on ground radio works successfully

Before I got ftdi radios seemed to communicate (solid green on both) now all I can get is blinking green.

Have I wrecked these radios or is there something more I can try?

The air and ground radios are identical, make sure both, using MP and the FTDI cable have the most upto date firmware. Then they should connect on startup ok.

You can only update firmware to the radio connected to the computer.
  • Pls provide photo of connection FTDI - air module.

You can firmware only to "local" module (not via air), so for air module update you need to connect it to PC "locally"..
