I have an X8-M and PixHawk. Last year everything worked fine when I was flying autopilot missions and the camera would automatically take pictures. This year I went to test it after doing software updates and the autopilot doesn’t take pictures. I can trigger the camera manually from the transmitter by toggling the on/off switch (ch7). I’m not sure if I changed a setting or maybe the software update changed a setting. I have also tried setting CAM_TRIGG_DIST to 1 and walking around with the drone, and it does in fact take pictures. I have the camera USB cable plugged into AUX6 on the PixHawk. Here is all of my pertinent information:
Camera: Canon S100
USB Trigger is set to ON in CHDK
Mission Planner: Version 1.3.37
APM: Copter V3.3.3
Parameters:
CAM_TRIGG_DIST: 0
CAM_TRIGG_TYPE: 1 (Relay)
CH7_OPT: 9 (Camera Trigger)
RELAY_PIN: 55 (PixHawk AUXOUT6)

In case anyone else was experiencing this issue, it was because of Mission Planner. When using Auto WP -> Survey (GRID) to make my mission, Mission Planner would only put in the last DO_SET_CAM_TRIGG_DIST command. There should have been one at the beginning of the mission as well. After I updated my Mission Planner to 1.3.37 this bug was corrected and both DO_SET_CAM_TRIGG_DIST commands are now there.
