Hi,

I have received the following email from 3DRobotics last night, my Iris quadocopter was already in France, at Fedex office for a delivery at home on monday. 3DRobotics say they cancel my order and will refund me, rhis mean they will ask Fedex to send back to product to the US, why such a decision for all customers ? Why cancelling a shipement when the parcel is nearly at your home ?

Here is the email I have received from 3DR

************************************************************************************************

Thanks for your order with 3DR. We're writing to let you know that, due to a temporary change in our shipping policies, we're unable to ship orders outside of the US and Canada. We'll be cancelling and refunding your order immediately. We're very sorry for the inconvenience, and we'll let you know when we can resume shipments to your country.

If you have any questions or would like to make modifications to your order, write to us at help@3drobotics.com or call our support line at +1 (858) 225-1414, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm PST.

Sincerely,

The 3DR Team

        Hi Gary,

Yes indeed, the UAV development board is export controlled, but the process for buying one from outside the US is not too difficult.

There are just a few banned countries, such as North Korea, that the UDB cannot be shipped to under any conditions.

For all other countries outside the US that are not banned, SparkFun sends you an email after you place an order asking you to certify that you will not reship the UDB to any of the banned countries.

        Best regards,

        Bill Premerlani

      • uff...this is critical

      • Distributor

The same goes for the old Mega board: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10294

That one doesn't even have any sensors and is basically a Arduino Mega in a different form factor.

  • Nooooooooooooooooooo, I knew i should have ordered my apm2.6 kit last week!... cheap clones anyone.. sad times

  • I got the same email (Im in New Zealand)

Only thing Im waiting on tho is

    • The replacement Irirs motor screws
    • The long legs that were accidently not provided in my Iris package.

Screws I can source myself if really necessary, but the long legs are pretty important as my purchase is not yet complete without them (gimbal needs them)

My package seems to have made it to hawaii, I hope it gets here and doesnt return to base

I expect these to get sent, even by some other post ,other than fed-ex all the time. 3dr w/ fed-ex is the only store ppl that have stung me with import tax/duty when starting this hobby. The import Tax duty is fine...but fed-ex lump on a huge "fee" on top of their expensive rates.

    Cheers

    -P

    • Just followup

My package arrived from them, like they mentioned, if its sent and you have the tracking number you should (hopefully)  be good.

      Thanks 3dr!!

    • FedEx in Croatia(EU) is same...I guess they are same counts all around world....writing emails to US central does not help

    • Well I bought from them as I thought they would be the most helpful.

Even if they could explain why. How about "yeah we expect a few weeks because of BLAH"

I would like to know if I'm going to get my warranty claim (which they have excepted) filled.

I have family in S.C, so that could be an option ;)

      • You should assume that if 3DR has been forced to stop exporting specific goods, it would be also illegal for your family to export those goods.

I would suggest that everybody keep their feet still for the moment and give Chris and the others a few days to sort things out. I'm pretty sure, they are not just sitting at the pool with a long drink right now...
