5000mAh 3S or 4S for Octocopter

I'm in the process of upgrading my Hex to an Octo.

Of course using APM 2.5 along with 880kv jDrones motors and 30A jDrones ESCs (transplanted from the Hex).

As I am considering using 2 x flight batteries in parallel for this build, would it be best to continue using 5000mAh 4S as I did for the Hex or 5000mAh 3S batteries.

The only reason for using 2 batteries in parallel is for hopefully longer air time.

Any advice would be appriciated.

  • Why would you go down to 3S?

Note, I just flew for 24 minutes for the T3 challenge using a 3DR Quad and 2 4S5000 batteries.  So just a datapoint for you.

Though technically, it's a little more efficient to use the lower voltage if your machine is overpowered and you don't need it.

  • Anyone please?
