5S Li-po with ArdupiloMega 2560

Hi Guys

I am currently using 2 - 3S 2200 Mah (In parallel) li-po batteries on my hexa which give me about 7.5 minutes of flight time.

I have tried using a 4S - 5000 mah li-po but flight time was very short and the battery became very hot.  When checking the battery post flight, there still appeared to be 60% of power left in it.  I had this issue with two different batteries.

I have a couple of 4800 mah 5S (45) li-pos' which I would like to try these batteries on my hexa.

My escs are rated up to 6S - would the ArdupilotMega 2560 be OK at this voltage ???

Cheers

Philip

  • I am assuming you are using one of your ESC BECs to power the board, which is a voltage regulator.  So, if your ESC is good to 6S then it should be fine to power the board.  A bigger question may be your intent with running 5S packs?  And whether your drive-train can handle the voltage?

    What motors/props/ESC's are you running?
