  • So are the Ublox GPS modules worth it? I hear good things about them but they seem to be hard to get a hold of at least here in the US. I am just looking for a decent GPS module to integrate into my autopilot. I have tried the Lassen IQ but I had troubles with that and didn't seem to pick up satellites very well.
  • Paparazzi is based on UBlox gen 4 GPS units. They seem to think they are well worth the price. These new Gen5 modules are priced the same as the Gen4 at $99. They support I2C (Two Wire Interface) which could save you a serial port.

"u-blox keeps tight control over the distribution of their products. They must be obtained DIRECTLY from their own reseller offices. These offices may not be available in your area, for example Canada does not have a reseller. Sample quantities can be obtained from uBlox but overnight or 2 day shipping is required which drives the cost up considerably. While it is a large hassle obtaining these devices, it is undoubtedly worth it." - http://paparazzi.enac.fr/wiki/index.php/GPS
  • Sort of laugh at these 50 channel pitches. By the time enough Gallileo + Glonass satellites come online to justify it, the module is going to be obsolete. The Antaris 4 modules are quite accurate and fast.
