Hi all,I've been browsing around looking for parts, methods, etc to build my own UAV, and I came across the following items of interest on SparkFun:GPS Receiver: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8291GPS Antenna: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8418Does anyone have an idea how much it would cost to have a circuit designed around these two items? I would think many DIY'ers would find a tiny GPS module useful in their efforts, and I wouldn't mind footing the bill to get something like this into everyone's hands (within reason). Thoughts?
I don't know what it cost to have those turned into a board, but if space is not a huge problem, Parallax sells a standard sized GPS antenna+chip for just $69. http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28146
I've used two of those, and they're fine for all but the tiniest UAVs. They use a "smart" data interface that can just return the fields you request, so you don't need to write a NEMA parser if you don't want to.
