Trying to get my turnigy 9x to stay in auto mode on MP

Everything else is working fine and i take off in stablize mode with no problems, as i rotate the pot into auto mode to complete missions it goes straight back into loiter mode,

1 - stabilize

2-loiter

3-loiter

4-auto

5-auto

6-land

so only stabilize loiter and land work, 

i've narrowed it down to something like channel drifting which is apprently a common but easily fixed problem, 

anyone encountered this before?
