Hello all, having newly come to AC2 i've spent a lot of time reading posts, settings, configs, logs.. to think i could avoid all the common mistakes before trying to fly my 700mm Hexa on the APM2.5
..to add, this model is not my only multirotor, i have many all setup on different flights boards.. what i find amazing is this rig flies smooth as silk on a cheap KK2.0 flight board, not a twitch, glitch or hicup.. yet after setting up APM2.5 it hoovered at about 4-5 mtrs with a twitch (like an over sensitive gyro) only no enduced oscillation could be caused.. this isnt at all present on the KK2.0 board, so back to this 'sort of' smooth hoover, the right prop goes full power of its own accord (in stab mode) and no rc input makes a difference. My only doubt other than hw/sw error/glitch can be 3DR radio modem, is it possible this received a signal from elsewhere (amateur radio'ist?)
Anyway, some hours and plenty replacement carbon, motors and props later.. its back flying. I would like to ask some questions i cant quite find answers for:
1. Throttle response seems poor, motors spin up to almost take off speed and power at barely any throttle input, but there after a much larger expo most be input by user to acheive any decent correction.. exactly the same setup completely different in the KK2.0 boards..
2. Alt Hold.. correction, again very poor response time, when dropping in ALT throttle response fails to respond / out a required amount of power to prevent a crash (Although this didnt cause me any damage on this occasion)
3. Stable flight twitch/wobbly.. if this is not gyro gain, why is it occuring?
Wishing the KK2.0 settings were transferrable to APM2.5, this model really did fly so well so smooth and nice response to pilot input, couldnt fault it.
We could do with a Walk-thru PID setup guide for users stating what to change and in relation to what. The descriptions are not so clear!!
And also.., is there a description of what all data in Mission planner means?? there are some telemetry numbers im not sure about, like under altitude the numbers "0>0" which often change.
And last not having a dig at Diydrones.. Spektrum, i see a lot of erratic pwm spikes accross channels now and then, without motors running, in mission planner radio setup.. is this a fault in the software, or is this really occuring in the spektrum datastream?? I used a DX8i. (Really think should ditch Spektrum and goto Futaba.. 70+ channels opposed to Spektrums 23 in dsmx)

now it sounds like 1 motor or esc to me, so i have tested them all off load on an different esc and on the APM2.5 board without props.. seems i cannot recreate this hesitation 'on the bench'
...so the only thing i can do next is replace the motors and esc's and see if this still occurs, has anyone seen this happen? I'm running 1000kv motors and turnigy AE-30a easc''s. (changing to 840kv and 45a AE-esc very soon as picked up some much better motors, NTM, SK3 and some others that took my fancy) all 35xx type
Post some pictures of your wiring :D
