Hi,

I want to build an Powerful antenna tracker with the pixhawk and mission planner. The tracker should do 360 degree.

I have 3 big antenna, and the system to pan is around 6kg and the tilt is around 3kg.

I have few questions:

1- Can a servo do unlimited rotation and keep sending the right information to the misison planner? here is the servo D50024MG 360-degree Continuous Travel Digital N-Roll Gimbal Servo 5.0kg/0.05s/60g http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__40923__D50024MG_360_degree_Continuous_Travel_Digital_N_Roll_Gimbal_Servo_5_0kg_0_05s_60g.html

2- If this servo can do it, will the mission planner accept unlimited rotation? or 360 degree only?

3- Where to put the Pixhawk inside the tracker, will it on the Tilt or only pan?

4- Which servo do you recommend to use for Tilt?

5- Is there other than this servo above which has unlimited rotation?

  • Thx Anders for your help.

I will work on it and send you some videos

  • 1. You set this in the configuration as SERVO_XXX_TYPE where XXX is PITCH or YAW

    2. As above

    3. The Pixhawk is to move as the antenna. Otherwise acc and gyros will not work. If the attached GPS has a compass it should be placed to move with the antenna, otherwise it may be fixed but then you'll get cable problems...

    4. Try to balance the load! When almost no force is needed to tilt almost any servo will do. I use 24kg servos because I need to swing a heavy camera.

    5. I don't know. I use a DC motor with gearbox and a belt drive
