Accelerometer calibration

HiI am using the CLI for setting up the APM, and am using the serial monitor on Arduino.If i wish to calibrate the accelerometer offsets, i press i and it hangs.and all further commands don't work.What am i doing wrong?ThanksSrinath

so you are connected via USB or xbee?

correct baud and carrige return setting?
