I've got an external compass 17cm above my frame, I am getting 1% interference on compassmot. Nearly every other parameter is default set up from scratch. Yet I still get the dreaded 'toiletbowling' on occasion, not every time I go into Loiter but maybe 1 out of 5 times. So I can't trust the 'copter to reliably Loiter everytime, I have to watch it carefully and 'catch' it if it starts, a nightmare for FPV as you can't see it happening until it's almost too late.
I know what TB is and why it happens but what other parameters can I tune to limit it happening?
Also how about the copter flying in one direction, learn that direction from the GPS and then compare that direction to the compass heading and adjust the declination or heading automatically thus cancelling out the direction and heading discrepancies? Or is that what auto-dec does already?

Still having the problem, one day it loiters perfectly, the next it TB's badly.
So the million dollar question is: can't APM compare it's last good GPS heading to the compass heading at the same point and correct the compass automatically solving TBE completely in one swoop or is it not as simple as that?
You say most of your parameters are default. Have you implemented the recommendation in 3.0.1 warning #2? That is, turn down your loiter PID from the default of 1.0 to maybe 0.5? That helped me quite a bit.It seems to tone down the GPS aggressiveness that sets off the TB'ing.
