Adding auto takeoff features to APM 2

Hi all, 

I want my quad rotors to take off automatically without using the mission script (planning way points via mission planner). it is possible to write a simple program to take off my quadcopter by toggling to an edited flight mode or something?

my idea is to use auto throttle and take off the quadcopte, holding the quadcopter at around 2 meters from the ground using the sonar. any idea on how to write the program?

  • I wouldn't trust the sonar alone @ 2meters. It can be off as much as the cops radar/sonar/lidar. :)
