Advice on how to read/interpret a .mavlink file on a Mac?

I've just had my FX-61 taken down by a hawk, while experimenting with QGround Control flying a survey using my Macbook. Unlike APM planner (which I also have used), QGC doesn't seem to write a tlog file that I can replay the flight in, to see what happened. It does write a .mavlink file though, and I'm wondering how to read/interpret this file.

I'm very new to the world of Pixhawks/open source stuff, so would appreciate any pointers in the right direction.
