Now all is installed and the trial begins setting the parameters.

The nice thing of a 450 sized Heli is, you can check most off its control behaviour by flying while it is in your hand.

The Swash control seems to work fine, resisting any outside disturbance strongly without wobble.

Also the roll and pitch RC input works as it should.

There is only one problem so far with the rudder RC input.

The APM Planer indicates RC Yaw input between 1000 and 2000, and on the Heli Setup page the same Rudder Travel is indicated. So there is nothing wrong with the RC input, but I have almost no Rudder Servo travel, if the Stick is moved from left to right. And yes the Throttle (Pitch) is at the same time in half way position.

But if I increase the “Stabilize Yaw” or “Rate Yaw” P parameter, then I have more and more Rudder Servo travel. The downside of it is, the Heli starts more and more Tail wagging.

So either I have a stable Tail with resists a Yaw disturbance without wobble but no Stick control, or I have Stick control but heavy Tail wobble.

I only like to increase RC input but not the control input from the PID.

Could please someone help me?? Maybe there is another Parameter I haven’t found.

I think if the Tail works fine I can let the Bird free, because everything else seems to work fine, even failsafe seems to work. :-)

  • I played around for a bit more with the Yaw parameters.

“Stabilize Yaw” P   to 2.000 and

    “Rate Yaw” P   to 0.100

This works well, maybe have to fine tweak it a bit more.
