It has been a while since I bought my Ublox GPS from the DIY Drones Store and verified that it would work with my Ardupilot.
Today I noticed that the black antenna protector was lying next to the Ublox GPS in the box that I normally keep it in. At first I thought that the antenna protector had come off of the GPS antenna, but on closer inspection there appears to be a plastic tube surrounding the antenna that is taped to the antenna at its base.
For the life of me I keep thinking that the black antenna protector was on the GPS antenna when I received it, but I think that is not the case since the black antenna protector will not fit over the plastic tube on the antenna. Is the plastic sleeve on the GPS antenna to protect it during shipping and should be removed and the black antenna protector installed for normal use? The black antenna protector appears to be a slip fit over the antenna and on to the antenna base. Is this correct?
