I've just short circuit my APM 2560. It happen after connecting the +ve lipo cable to GND. I should have connect the +ve lipo cable to the AN0 pin. So right now my APM can only be power ON when connected to the USB cable from laptop but not from 5v UBEC.
Is there a way that I can modify the board?

Do you know what part/s failed?
You could replace any damaged traces and upgrade to beefy 5+ regulator.
It may end up a bit messy as room is tight.
I would remove on board +5 reg add a off board 3-5 Amp UBEC with a toroid filter. $5
I power mine with a UBEC- 15 Turnigy from HK $15
I have 3 large digital servos for heli swash plate and a high speed digital for rudder /yaw
A .2 to 1 F super cap filter/ booster may be an option too.
This is not a bad problem as you will end up with a reliable system.
I mark all my power connectors with red and black or silver sharpie markers so I am less likely to reverse a power connection. Simple to do, this has save my @ss several times.
