Hi, today I had a flight with my quad and everything was fine. Landed and changed battery, after that the APM was not powering up anymore. I did a full check and I discover that the APM is not sharing the power between the output power rail and input power rail. I did check the jumper and is ok, and also If I power the APM from the input side it works.
Do anyone experience this before? I need to investigate why this failure, If I don't want to have troubles again.

APM2.5 uses a higher current rated diode...and a fuse..and a zener for overvoltage protection...

No camera gimbal. My setup is very simple, APM, UBlox Gps, sonar, and minimosd. The power was coming from the 4 ESC connected on the output (linear reg.), and the only thing I suspect Is that I exceeded the 500ma due to the power consumption of the APM + GPS + Sonar.
Now I did change my setup, the power is coming From the 3dr power module, going into the input rail, the output rail is separated, and the OSD is now powered only by 12v, in this way is working fine.
I'm experiencing just one strange thing, when I connect the USB the computer does not recognise the Com port, until I disconnect the 3dr power module (off course no battery connected).
I was suspecting that the D1 diode did fail, but I'm more interested in discover why is a common failure point. does anyone has any idea?

The diode, D1 is suspect in this case.
All current supplied to the APM (and anything else connected to it) via the Output connector passes through D1.
Check it with a DVM on diode setting. If bad, replace it OR...if you are certain you will never exceed 5.3 VDC input, simply jumper it (if bad).

Which version of the APM do you have?
Are you using the APM Power Module?
When you say "I did check the jumper and is ok" does that mean the JP1 is in-place for removed?
