APM 2.5 Blown compass??

I just recently ran into a strange problem..my magnetometer only gets data when the board is rotated 90 degrees about x. if the board is level the mag(x,y,z) don't get updated and just sit at a number. I can no longer calibrate through mission planner as I can only fill part of the sphere. any ideas what could have happened? I reflashed the firmware thinking something happened but sure enough same problem.

any suggestions on what to check or a fix would be great. I think I have ext. compass somewhere i'm gonna hook up.

    APM 2.5 supports an external GPS/Compass combo and it would be best fix your problem that way. Do some searching and you can get one that works for 20 - 30 dollars.
