APM 2.5+ controled by USB

 I want to use APM for gymbal control and navigation in smal aircraft with pilot.

Can I connect APM to PC(by USB) for:

1) stabilization of a gimbal/control camera

2) Get navigation information on monitor? 

3) Get logs(GPS/IMU) after "mission by USB"?

As i understand, i need:

- APM 2.5+ with GPS.

- FTDI Cable 

- PC(with MP)

   And can do it by USB in stabilize mode, can i?

Im a newbee and try to choose right platform for this task... help me plz, i read a bunch of posts on the forum and didnt find the unswer.

  • Hi,
    The gimbal is connected directly to the APM servo out. Gimbals using standars servos are not as good as the new generation brushless gimbals. You may be better off with those.
    You can use APM with a PC as a simple navigation device but I am not sure how well it is suited for your purpose all in all. You can pre-load the map information in Mission Planner and qgroundcontrol so you don't need an internet connection in flight.
    With APM 2, you don't need the FTDI cable. A serial USB converter is built in.
