I am getting totally confused, working for hours on bad compass results
- I just purchased the 2.5 (no 2.6 in Europe)
- I just purchased the Module GPS uBlox LEA-6 3DR which I think has the compass integrated
- I have cut the trace as suggested on the board (now I realise this is not good for the 2.5...)
- I calibrated the compass like in youtube
- I have used latest firmware...
In mission planner,
If choose external compass, it gives me an error msg : Set COMPASS_ORIENT Failed !
If I select the onboard compass, and enter my own declination (South of France), I can see the compass showing new results in the flight data window, BUT when as I turn the quad around,
- very slow to stabilise the results. I can stop moving the quad, then numbers are slowly going up or down but eventually showing wrong direction numbers
- turning around and stopping at the same point, it never shows the same results, sometimes wrong by as much as 90 degrees.
- obviously then, I obtain fly-aways for RTL...
So... Was I totally wrong to cut the trace on the 2.5 ? Would it work only on 2.6 ?
Anything else I could do ? I am having a true headache here...
Magfied reads 290. Is this too much ?

+++ I had used the "calibration dance" as per youtube example, with "standing-up-guy-and-dancing" the method.
I had resutls as mentioned above.
I have just now used the "quiet-guy-sitting-in-a-chair" way, and results are way better.and look correct.
Now...
When I select the "external compass" choice, then go to Flight data, then come back to check my compass choice, check has disappeared, and only shows "compass : enable". So I am still lost... Am I using the internal or external compass... How can I know please ?
