An idea occured to me today...well two actually...after seeing this:
http://www.getfpv.com/multi-rotor-frames/qav250-mini-fpv-quad/qav250-mini-fpv-quadcopter-arf.html
1. To design a "performance upgrade" airframe for this, in CF. I'll start work on that once I get a copy of the airframe. I'd update it to widen it for an APM and GPS fit, and for a bigger 1500mah battery. oh, and once my new CNC arrives. Stay tuned.
2. And this is the probably the better idea - use the provided 45x45 mount holes to fit the APM. Now that pixhawk is here, what are the communities thoughts around a stripped out APM (no secondary output pins - just 8 in and 8 out), and a 45x45 - possible dual sided - board? I'm not electronic expert, but I do recognise the business opportunity for 3DR to scavenge sales from KK, Openpilot etc who use the 45x45 form factor in smaller vehicles.

I am a big fan of mini multirotor. I have built a few little octos and quads, AUW between 250-650g. My latest effort is pictured below.
The QAV250 looks like a really nice kit, with quality motors and ESCs.
A CF version of this frame is a great idea, and really does perform.
