APM2.5 with wifi TCP link unable to download parameters

I have recently completed a 3d printed quad, and installed an old HK2.5 flight controller. I flashed it with copter 3.2.1 and connected a wifi telemetry module so I could use Droidplanner/Tower app on my non USBOTG phone.

Specifically, I wanted to be able to use the "follow me" function and create/edit basic missions without a laptop for random and spontaneous aerial video flights while on a remote area 4wd trip.

The T4 quad is flying beautifully after a bit of tuning and I am really happy with the outcome so far.

The problem is related to the wifi telemetry. When connected to APMPlanner via USB, (I'm a linux user and hate rebooting to windoze), everything works as expected, but when I connect the laptop or phone via wifi link, I get the live attitude and location data but I cannot download parameters or upload/download missions.

I have been able to successfully do a "follow me" flight but it did take several attempts before it would recognize the command from the phone. Arming or changing modes via the phone is intermittent or impossible at times but the hud info is always good.

I am not sure if this is an APM 2.5 issue, a copter 3.2.1 issue or a wifi/TCP issue.

Can anyone shed any light on this?
