Arducopter 3.2 Warning

Just wanted to put out a warning to everybody, that you should not be testing any of the 3.2 Release Candidates for Tradheli until I say so.

At this time, I have not flight tested 3.2rc1 or rc2. I have been doing bench testing, and they likely will not fly at all.  I am working on the 3.2 code, getting it to a point where it's flight ready.  I'm hoping that I can keep up with the multirotor 3.2 release schedule.

At some point, I may ask for beta testers to try a 3.2 rc, but I will make this clear when it is time.

  • I've been flying a lot on 3.1.4.  It's rock solid except, on one of my two helis, the heli doesn't reset to armed yaw on RTL.  I don't know why and haven't been able to fix it.  But other than that, it's really handling quite well in Loiter, Auto, and Stab.

    When I upgraded to 3.1.3, the upgrade process messed up a few of my params.  That was bad.  Now I don't take anything for granted.  I reload from a known good param file, and recalibrate the Accel and compass on each upgrade.  I also double check the params.  Maybe overkill but small price to pay.

    • That armed yaw on RTL, I believe the the problem is that you don't have enough of a pause before the final descent for RTL.  There's a parameter for this, that sets a pause before it comes down slowly.  It's during that time period that it yaws around, and if it's too short, it gets cut off.

    • That's a surprisingly difficult question for me to answer.  I actually haven't flown the stable release codes for a while.  I am currently flying a personal development branch based on 3.1.0 on all my machines.  I haven't flown any of the 3.1.2+ codes.  These contain mostly back-end fixes, which are well tested on multi-rotors, and should not have any effect on tradheli.  But given the details of your particular project, I'm extra cautious.

      I assume that if there were any problems with the 3.1.2+ releases, that somebody would have let me know.

      Sorry if that sounds like a flaky answer, but I'm a very cautious person, and especially in your case want to make sure you know all the facts.  I'm building a heli similar to yours for somebody else, and will be using my development branch.  But I'm not sure if you'd want to do that.
