When i install the mission planner software everything goes smooth until the drivers section. For the life of me i cannot get the ports to show up in control panel.
the normal window asking permission to install the drivers does not show up just a window saying it is complete. What am i doing wrong. ?

Ports are listed in device manager under com ports.
You really need to give more information on what your doing.
what OS ?
USB port ?
port for telemetry ?
flashing the APM ?
