regarding the copter flight modes -
one place tells me to connect two channels AUX (on\off) and a combination of them allows 4 flight modes - manual, altitude hold, position hold OR altitude&position hold.
another place tells me that selection is done by one channel, with a knob, that each position has another flight mode - there is 6 flight modes.
are these the differences between arducopter code and ardupirates code ?
which is which ?

this shows connection of AUX1 and gear, on inputs 5-6, 4-5.
does it means the ardupirates work with the two-on-off channels allowing 4 flight modes ?
is there a way to use the ardupirates code and have 6 flight modes selectable by a VR knob ?
