I've been approached by a colleague who is looking for a aerial photography platform. He knows I'm into FPV RC and we got to talking about what he really wanted. He now thinks the ArduCopter would be ideal for his uses, especially with the Google maps interface.
In it's current configuration, can the ArduCopter carry a payload of an HD camera, and perhaps other "hand-held" instrumentation?
Would it possible (read difficult) to upgrade the motors to allow for larger payloads?
Mostly he would send the platform high enough to bring a 500 foot square into the field of view, hover there for a minute or so taking pictures; then back down. Probably 2 to 5 minute flights. He doesn't think he will ever need any more than 10 minutes of flight.
I'm planning to get one myself, though it will have to wait until I've mastered my Easystar FPV.
Thanks.

Try to get the Roxxy 2827-34. They can take the 12" APC Props. This will give you lots of lift.
I use four of them on my quad with 10x4.7 APC and my 1.4kg quad flies about 17-20minutes with my 2800mAh 25C 3S Lipo.
