So there are going to be replacement sensors for the thermopiles i hear. Are they not going to be the Arduimu? They say they are going to analog and i know arduimu is serial. But i also hear 2.5.1 code will use arduimu. So are there going to be replacements or is the arduimu going to be the replacement? If there are replacements what is the advantage of using those and not arduimu? will they be cheaper? I am justing trying to see if i should buy the arduimu or wait for the correct replacements.

Remember that the thermopile replacement sensor is not just for ArduPilot: it's also for AttoPilot, Paparazzi and the FMA CoPilot. So there's still a case for making one. However, it's not as high a priority now that we seem to be working torwards a backwards compatible way to use ArduIMU with the current ArduPilot. Note that neither of these approaches will be as good as ArduPilot Mega, but if you've already got the ArduPilot investment, we want to be able to offer an upgrade path.
My bet is since the firmware just got released for arduimu across serial that they will drop the analog D2A approach. No need for it in the ardupilot. And as far as cost?....well it can only be more expensive because it is adding hardware. My take on it is that they will use the arduimu plus this D2A circuit....aka a go between which will cost more money. So beings it works by just modding the software...I would just go that way
