ArduPilot APM 2.5 Behaviour on Channel > 4 ?

I have set up my transmitter with the standard first four channels and they work fine 1-1

1. Aileron
2. Elevator
3. Throttle
4. Rudder

I also had Gear on channel 5.

The first four channels work exactly as expected when fed through the APM 2.5. The problem is getting the Gear channel to work. The APM simply ignores the inputs on that channel. I read somewhere that channel 5 or 6 may be related to flight mode mode control so I shifted the Gear function to channel 7 on the transmitter and attached the servos to the the channel 7 output of the APM.

I have checked the transmitter is signalling correctly and channels are recognised by the APM - using the channel calibration function in the flight-planner software package.

So to summarise I have 4 channels that work fine and I have two channels that don't (channel 5 and 7)

Is there anything I need to do to get the Gear function operating?

  • Jeremy, try switching only your receiver to channel 7, leave it on channel 5 on the APM.

I tried using the same setup to get my Channel 5 to work (switch not dial) and programmed RTL. I did and it works. Give it a try and let me know.
