Hi all,
I am a System Engeneer and programmer, i like arduino concept and have done some different thing with it : network temperature sensors with wiznet and arduino328, 2 wheel autonomous robot with URM37 that can be piloted with iphone btstack and bluetooth ...
I Would like go on a quad copter project, and the ardupilot Mega + IMU seems a good start for me, but I also want it to be evolutive, since i like to hack a bit code/devices, i would like possibly to add some sensors/features on the existing code, but even after reading some docs on it, i still have some questions :
- Once everything connected (Ardupilot Mega + IMU + 4 motors + Xbee + GPS) how much inputs i still have (and what kind of it)?
- I saw that we can add a sonar sensor, but why just one, could be great to have more for obstacle avoidance, is it possible to add others ?
I am currently hesitating between arducopter and aeroquad just because of those questions of hacking possibilities, evolutions/extensions. what would you guys advice me ?
I know it may not be the more appropriate thread to post this, but i thought it may be more clearly answered by the tech support who really knows whats possible and whats not ... please apologies if i'm wrong.

Arducopter is a full autonomous UAV; Aeroquad is just a RC copter.
