Ardupilot setup for Hobbyking FPVRaptor

Have been flying FPV for some time and have been interested in the Ardupilot for over a year, I really like the new version.

So I have looked into setting up Ardupilot 2.5 in a FPVRaptor from hobbyking.

What I cant find information about (have been looking around the forum) is what do I need all the optional sensors for? ex sonar, airspeed sensor...

What I want to achive with the Ardupilot is

-Fly waypoints,(I'm getting the 433mhz telemetri module)

-Send commands from the laptop.

-AutoTakeoff & landing

Do I need anything other than the Mainboard for this?

  • Hi Sveinung. I think you are talking about the newest APM 2.5 rather than the legacy ArduPilot board that this part of the forum is for (probably why you have not had a reply).

I have an FPV Raptor (2m version) that I use with APM 2.5. The only things you really need to get it flying is the APM 2.5 board, a GPS and a telemetry module.

You can just go with the default Meditek GPS, but I use the new uBlox GPS and it is brilliant. It gets a fast lock and very high accuracy.

I'm using Xbee for telemetry, but the 3DR radios are better from what I hear, so go with them if you can.

You don't need an airspeed module, but it is a nice and relatively cheap addition. Another addition that is nice to have, but not essential, is a current/voltage sensor.
