ArduPirates Problems

My new quad was running well on the RC2 code and I decided to upgrade it to the ArduPirates NG code so that I could get all the extra functionality.

I loaded the code exactly as described in the instructions but am having a couple of annoying problems.

1.  Once I had loaded the code and rebooted it, one motor made a strange noise for a second or two and began smoking!  I immediately disconnected the battery and tested the motor which seems okay.  Bear in mind that all the motors have been set up and have been working fine with the previous version of the code.

2.  I can't get CLI or Configurator to work despite the fact that the programming of the board works fine.  When the configurator or Arduino serial terminal start I can see the board rebooting but when it gets to the 'running LEDs' part of the boot-up (fast or slow depending on switch position) it just keeps displaying that and never seems to detect the fact that the PC is trying to connect with it.  I can see the incoming serial activity on the LEDs on the board and baud rate is set to 115200 (although I also tried 57600 which is what the telemetry is set to. Note that on the previous version of the code Configurator worked fine but I couldn't get CLI to work.  However, I did get CLI working okay with the plane software that buildyourowndrones installed on the board prior to my receiving it.

Please can anyone suggest a reason for these two problems?

Cheers!
