I just setup a turnigy 4wd 1/16 scale rover vehicle with an apm 2.5 and the rover code, and I am unsure how to tune the steering. I cannot get it to turn at all. I put it in auto mode and turn the body of the car expecting the wheels to point in the direction of travel and it does not do this. Does it need to be moving to start steering. I disconnected the speed control and it still doesnt do much. Also, how do i make it go very slow all the time. The speed control that came with the car is not very linear, but it seems to take off very quickly and spin out.
Lastly, how far away should the apm be from the brushless motor? Currenlty its about an inch in distance but not right over it. Only a little bit hangs over the motor, but there is still a 1" air gap.
Thanks
Jason

@Jason,
How have you setup your rover?
Did you calibrate the R/C transmitter with the MP?
Did you setup the modes: Auto, Auto, Learn, Learn, Manual, Manual
Did you calibrate the motor ESC to the R/C transmitter in the Manual mode?
Did you calibrate the compass?
The compass, which is in the middle of the APM2.5 pwb, is probably too close to the motor. You might have to use a remote compass.
How are you commanding the rover modes?
First get your rover to respond to the R/C transmitter in the Manual mode and then go from there.
The ArduRover wiki is here: http://rover.ardupilot.com/wiki/table-of-contents/ I suggest that you read it thoroughly and compare what it says to your present rover configuration.
