Where I was flying is not that nice (front garden). In the below picture, on the right hand side of the road is the edge of the 40ha plot across the road from me...

Looks like you had a dead battery to be honest. They motors did what they were supposed to do, sense the high PWM commands and reduce them automatically (thanks again Tridge) prevent a violent flip. This looks like a goofy wobble on the way down but it prevents the quad landing in a way that breaks a motor or APM board.
