Autotakeoff problems

Hello everyone!

I've built a catapult for my X8 wing and trying to achieve an autotakeoff.

I put 1st waypoint 150 meters forward of my position and set it as "takeoff".

Problem is when I switch to "auto" mode before takeoff - autopilot tries to align the plane along the horizon. So when I put my plane on a catapult - elevons are facing down.

Because of this when I launch catapult - plane doesn't have enough time to start the engine.

I thought it happens because of STALL_PREVENTIO - so I turn it  to "0"  -  didn't help.

How can I fix this problem?

  • The Takeoff waypoint isn't really a waypoint, it's a command. It has no Lat/Long position. It tells the plane to climb to a given altitude and maintain the heading it was launched at.
I've never used a catapult, but you might try Stick Mixing, and just pull back on the stick to level the elevons for launch. I doubt this is necessary however since it works fine for others. You should be able to resolve the downward Elevon deflection simply by adding the minimum climb out pitch angle into the Takeoff command line. There are other TAKEOFF parameters handle motor start delay based on time or acceleration. Just read the wiki on the subject, it's all there.
