I had performed all the ground checks on my arupilot 2.3 powered Easystar.I had set to waypoint mode, stored a 5 waypoint test flight, and launched. After takeoff, I flew manually to get it airborne, then switch to auto mode. The plane climbed and turned to what looked like the 2nd waypoint, then turned to head toward the third waypoint. It was "hunting" - tending to pitching above & below the flight plane as it flew.So far so good. A good maiden glight, I thought...BUT it just kept flying past it, more or less in s straight direction. The direction was approximatedly SE,(from 52.152591, 0.156854), so this would rule out a 0 in either of the waypoint coordinates.Any ideas what could cause it to behave in this way? Could the rudder servo have failed making it unable to turn?

Did you put it back in manual mode and bring it home or is it actually gone?!
When you're setting up the plane for the first few times, you should do fly-by-wire first, then RTL. only after both stabilization and navigation have been tested should you try waypoints. And even then the reason we stay in line of sight, is so that we can regain control if something goes wrong.
In your case it could have any number of things: lost GPS lock, not enough rudder authority to fight the wind (did you enlarge the rudder as most people do with EZs?),
