Hi,

Just joined. First post. New to the field.

A friend of mine gave me a Parrot 2.0 last week as a gift to help get me started in the wild world of UAVs. We've been doing DIY electronics projects together for a while (I'm the designer he's the engineer) and I'm finding it hard to resist gutting the copter and putting it's guts on a new frame. (it's kind of ugly)

Has anyone tried this? I have no good reason for doing this other than to try something new and to make it look cool. A better reason would probably be to see if different frames improve performance, but who care about that? ;D

I've done some research here on the forums and google and haven't seen anyone doing heavy frame modding to the Parrot. I'm curious why my searches aren't pulling up anything. (other than my sucky research skills.) Does it not work very well? Maybe it's not worth the time? I don't know, I just want to hack the heck out of it and see what happens. If anyone has any experience and/or advice as to why or why not I should do this, I'd be grateful.

Thank you! -- JM

  • hi,

i had the same idea that if we can grab the flight controller of the AR drone and put it into a larger copter framework, we may get a better performance(long flight time, larger payload). i also did the research and found nothing.

please tell me if you have any further information
