% bad packets - mission planner

New to Pixhawk and Mission Planner.   I'm confused.

When I look at the HUD in Mission Planner, the "% bad packets" number that is next to the sign strength indicator in the upper right hand corner is usually a very large number. It usually starts out in the 80% range then slowly over a few minutes increases to the 99% range.

The wiki says that this is the "% bad packets".   Does that mean that 99% of the packets that are being transmitted are bad?   The telemetry logs files seem to be accurate. ????   Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting that I need to change?

Thanks in advance.

it should be the other way  around.
