Balance propeller and reduce motor vibration question

Hello,

I try to reduce the vibrations on my quadcopter. So I build a frame to measure the vibration of the motor. After I successfully reduced the vibration of the motor I do a test with installed propeller.

Why is the vibration so great although the motor and the prob are good balanced itself?

Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHX36Cesoyk

Any ideas?

Regards,

Gerd

  • Hi Gerd,

now I can also post here:-)

I assume that your Prop is still not balanced - you need a balancer where the prop can turn 360 degree through! Your prop is now balanced horizontally but most possible not vertically!
To balance the prop also vertically you might need to balance also the prop source/center - see also my post in the German forum: http://fpv-community.de/showthread.php?36254-Prop-Balancer-bis-17-Z...

E.g. I had to take away a lot of material from my 13# Lipoly Carbon props from the center, so that the prop was balanced at every position 360 degree around. If you are not sure from which site you need to take away material you may check with a little bit of butter on the counter/lighter side first...but it becomes clear very fast.... my first 4 carbon props I balanced within 5hrs - next time it may take max 2 hrs.

See also my YT movies in above link for further explanations.

Looking at your video the answer is obvious: the propeller is blowing on the nexus 4 ! You could modify your test bench so the propeller does not blow on the measurement device
