I am trying to learn how to fly my drone and have a question about battery placement. Below is a picture of my set-up and wanted to know if it would be easier to fly if I have the battery position differently. For example have the battery go parallel or perpendicular to the front of the drone instead of my 45 degree set-up I have now? Or does is not really matter?

As long as the copter is balanced, it doesn't really matter where the battery is located. Pick it up by your fingertips under opposite arms. It should be balanced. It won't be perfect, but if one side is considerably heavier than another, look again at the equipment you have mounted.
