HI,
I am new member in the X-UAV Talon club, I have just received my Talon with the extension wing.
I'm working to put the right combination of motors, prop and batteries:
I am looking to have the maximum flight duration over 90 minutes.
The weight of my FPV gear with all antennas, cables, cameras is around 750g.
The weight of the talon + motors + ESC + servo is around 1400g, So the total weight without the batteries is around 2150g
Regarding the battery, I can use multiple options based on motors and prop:
Multistar Battery Weights:
3S 5200 mAh is 325g.
4S 5200 mAh is 433g.
Option1: 3S configuration 2 parallel batteries => 3S 10,400 mAh: 650g. Total flight weight 2,800g
Option 2: 6S configuration, 2 series batteries => 6S 5,200 mAh: 650g, Total flight weight 2,800g
Option 3: 4S configuration, 2 parallel battery => 4S 10,400 mAh: 866g.Total Flight weight: 3,016 g
Option 4: 3S configuration 4 parallel batteries => 3S 20,800 mAh: 1300g. Total flight weight 3,450g
Option 5: 6S configuration 2 parallel + 2 series => 6S 10,400 mAh: 1300g.Total flight weight 3,450g.
What motors and prop should we use with every option, and what flight duration will we get?
I have those motors: but I can buy others if needed:

"Talon" has wings, and a motor at the back.
"Toys" have 4 motors on top, and the less said, the better :-(
It's a translation problem.....
Hi everybody !
My frame is a Talon V2 and i've currently two LIPO 5S 5000mah 45C and i would like to know, if i put them in series (5S 10000mah), how many times will be the flight time?
I don't have motor yet, which model is better for 17" 5,5 props to have a good thrust (more than 2kg/motor) with good autonomy ?
Thanks at all
Joffrey, you have made a fundamental mistake, in series, you will have 10S, 5000 mAh.
At the typical current a Talon draws. there is almost no advantage to go to high voltages.
My Talon now flies with 3 x 3S 5000mAh pack in parallel, carries 500g of payload, at 60 Km/h airspeed, flies for guaranteed 60 minutes, can push that safely to 90 minutes..
In cruise, Talon draws average 7 A.
Advantages, no fancy motors, no fancy ESC's, no fancy BEC's, most video TX's run on 3S......
Oh sorry, yes it will be in parallel
The spped is not very important for me, i prefer to have a good thrust
Woah 90 minutes, it's awesome !
Which motor do you use?
Thanks
Turnigy 3548 900Kv, APC 12x6 electric prop,
Because I had it from a previous project !
Joffrey, is your goal maximum duration or range? Why the 17X5.5 propeller? Why 5S?
50 minutes will be verry good !
17x5.5 because i've take the extension for the talon V2 frame and 17" give more stability and flight time and i need of this to do FPV.
5S because i already have the batteries for another rc (MT4 G3).
you will break the prop if 17" everytime you land.
You don't need more than 13" and you will get 60 minutes minimum, you saw my summary and it was a flight full of circles which means it has consumed more energy than cruise mode.
it's Ok for 5S, your AMP will be like 3 most of the time.
Hi Gustav,
Are you using the extension wing? I guess you should be able to do more than 2 hours if you are flying at 45km/h cruise speed.
I used only 5,600mAh out of 12,000 mAh of my 2 x 3S. My flying weight was around 5KG.
We did not even do cruise to get better time but only circles with a radius of 150m and we flew for 56 minutes on 2 batteries with a concumption of 5,600 mAh.
Yes, I have the wing extensions.
At the moment everything is set up for 60 Km/h, I did not gain much current wise to drop the airspeed to 40, and I wanted to cover as much ground as possible.
Lost my flying field, so I'm not doing much at the moment.......
