buying first RC plane, transmitter question

Hey guys, I've been wanting to make a UAV heli for a while now, finally taking the plunge with a plane first. I am going to start off with either an easy star or easy glider. I noticed some of the easy star kits come bundled with a very basic transmitter. Will this be good down the line if I need to upgrade or get another plane or should I start off with a better transmitter right away and not waste money on that one? Thanks

  • Better off buying the kit version and installing better gear from the get go. It's a lot harder with the glue together Epalor foam models to do after construction upgrades. The radio that comes in the RR kit is pretty much limited to 3 channels. You'll want more for cmaera pods and other switching devices.
  • If money is an issue and you don't want to pitch for a DX6 or something like that try this - 6ch 2.4Ghz Transmitter w/ Receiver from Exceed RC, works well. http://www.nitroplanes.com/2-4ghz-transmitter-receiver--full-versio...

If you're serious about it, get a real radio. You'll be glad you don't have to throw away your cheap radio. You can also use multiple receivers for a single radio. That way you can get more planes and not move the electronics around.
