Here's a bit of a brain teaser. How would you go about calibrating a 3-axis magnetometer in a vehicle that's too big and heavy to be manipulated by hand? The brute force method would be to build a big rig to lift the vehicle off the ground with three degrees of rotational freedom. But is there a simpler way to do this?

Do you have a picture of the vehicle?
I guess the simplest thing to do would be to drive the vehicle around for a bit collecting magnetometer data...
Or would that not give you the data you need?
