Can a prop break in flight?

Well to answer my own question… yes it can :)

I was surprised this could happen. Maybe it's a defect in the prop? I had at least 50 flights on it and usually always do some full accelerations but this time when I pumped the throttle, I heard a crack and then the copter fell luckily into some heavy grass and sustained NO damage :) When I got to it, the half of the prop was still attached. I can post a picture if anyone wants to see. It broke right at the middle of the prop. I guess even if this happened with an octo or hexa it still would have had trouble because of the unbalanced nature of half a prop :)

So has this happened to anyone else?

And when I do a hard acceleration straight up is it normal for it to torque and instead of going straight up, it goes up but goes away AND up making an arc like I had pushed the cyclic forward.

I was doing a full throttle when it happened because I was trying to understand the arc/torque situation. Sebastian how can I check my motor balancing? I'm pretty sure it always arcs away from me which means the back motor is not the same as the other 3? How can I test that further?

My 12" CF blades should arrive in a few weeks :)
