Can a UAV gimbal be mounted on a pole?
example #1
Would be a flag pole mounted on a vehicle, then the gimbal on top of the flag pole.
Would have to come up with a shelf to hang it from and keep the battery.
example #2
I attach a pole to my Jeep and extend it out away from the vehicle. This would record my the flex and extreme angles, or would the gimbal hit it's limits?
Or am I missing something and this will not work or is not worth the time?
Would a 2 axis gimbal be sufficient?

Some can. Off-hand, I know PhotoshipOne makes a few dedicated for poles, and a few which can do double duty.
Well, I did use my 2 axis gimbal from my Iris+ and mounted it to a plate that was clamped to the top of a pole.
I got a battery to use with it too, I didn't want to use the Iris+ battery to only power the gimbal.
But I have yet to test it though, besides just walking around the living room with it.
Interesting company, but too expensive.
They have some older 2 axis models that are less expensive - but yeah - these are mostly built for SLRs and probably overkill.
