I was wondering if I can hardwire the IMU board to the Ardushield board like on my picture? also can I leave the FTDI connector plugged in the board all the time or do I need to take it out for flying?

I haven't powered the Ardupilot yet I just want to know if I can use it like that.

I don't know if the FTDI board will interfere with communications (as far as I know, nobody has tried that before), but there's an easy way to find out. Just try it with and without the board! You can't do any harm.
  • Not sure, but you should keep boards away from carpet. Static electricity can and most likely will be generated and you risk having something fry, without even knowing it...a hard surface is best or a even better an antistatic keyboard mat properly grounded. I've done it...
