Can i update my MTK with this?

Hi guys,

i have got a MTK GPS which must have a old firmware on it (not sure which one, but it was bought to early to have 1.6 on it )

 

No i have this sparkfun item for my Wiicopter, can i use it to flash the GPS, if i managed to connect it to the MTK (probably just add a pin row to it).. http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9716

 

Just as extra information, i have the old mediatek, which still has the battery-adapterboard underneath it, does that change anything?
